I woke up from a nightmare and started having a major panic attack from it. I started praying but I could only pray so much. then this song came to my mind and I came here. it made me remember who it was that I served and I imagined a mighty army on my side. the panic attack kept trying to come to me but when I sang what I knew and focused on this song, anxiety fleed. “give rest unto your servants…”
Greetings from your Coptic Orthodox brother. This hymn is very beautiful (We have similar hymns in the Coptic church). Let us pray for the Union of the Eastern and Oriental orthodox churches. God bless.
i am trying to find my way back to our Lord Jesus Christ. I’ve been going through a really tough time ever since my dad passed away. I feel absolutely terrible that i let my faith suffer.
Psalm 103:8 The LORD is merciful and gracious, slow to anger, and plenteous in mercy. As a Catholic I really love the Eastern Christian music… but Gregorian will always be my favorite 😀
As indicated in the Greek, this is the “evlogitaria for the dead”. The singer is Fr Apostolos Hill. This is from an album of his featuring songs from the Orthodox funeral service called “Hymns of Paradise: Hymns of Life and Hope”. Absolutely fantastic CD. Thanks for posting!
